Cage / Cunningham The Merce Cunningham's Points in Space DVD arrived today so with an hour for lunch I'm watching it. For Ģ6 + p&p it's worth every minute to watch the choreography. Not so sure about Cage's score - however, there's nothing to stop me or anyone else preparing a new score! It's interesting that music and dance only came together on the first performance, Cunningham having worked sectional timings out with a stopwatch. The camera work was rehearsed though. But I'm convinced all right about just what a master Cunningham is. Would suit anyone interested in modern dance...and how! Mesmerised....

Re: Cage / Cunningham As for repertoire, the Cage Cunningham collaboration DVD is on its way though I have a fair bit of his material otherwise. A Life of Dance is worth a watch. What's amazing about Cunningham is that until very recently (I think he's in his 90s), he always gets himself into a short sketch in his work - latterly using a portable bar (not surprising in view of his age)! Several other works have been recorded - the ultra-beautiful "Pond way" with "Biped" that entails computer imaging as well as live dance. He's a great fan of this technical stuff.

Re: Cage / Cunningham !!!! Nice idea. The ballet is all right but you don't like the score so write a new score. I will have to find out about this dancer. ![]()
