| Hmmm... I don't really know. I like the Star Wars one of course, and West Wing TV series also has nice music to it. ![]()

Theme songs from Bond films are kind of hit or miss, but I would never buy a Bond score CD for the theme song--it's all about the score itself.

Bond music is very simple, the orchestrations are brilliant!

Yeah, I think John Barry did some really wonderful work on the Bond films. The David Arnold score I mentioned had some of the best synth/electronic/orchestral hybrid I've heard in an action film, and one of the best drum programming work I've heard in a score.

I'm glad my favorite composer, John Williams, is liked by y'all. Of his scores, my favorite is probably Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and I have a particular reason why. I had that music on a mp3 player that I listened to at work, and I loved listening to it because I could practically see every scene in the movie. I love how he and composers like him can help us visualize a scene. Mark

Re: Favourite film score? Much as I love modern film music, my favorite film scores are not of recent films. I think Bernard Herrman's score for "Vertigo" is as detailed and as carefully worked out thematically and coloristically as any opera, as well as being completely memorable as pure music. His score for "Psycho" is a tour de force as well, matching the black and white of the film by using only strings ... but in the case of composers like Miklos Rosza and Herrman we're talking about composers of concert music who came to Hollywood but still took themselves seriously as "real" composers. With the emergence of film music as a truly separate and specialist genre, the crossover is less common. Philip Glass has done it, few others.

Re: Your Favourite film score? If I have to pick only one, I'd choose: Somewhere in Time (John Barry) What an awesome score. Other favourites: Papillon (Jerry Goldsmith) Shogun (Maurice Jarre) Legend (Tangerine Dream)
