| Alfred Cortot playing Chopin... So, im just curious, what do you think about Alfred Cortot? I think he can be pretty amazing sometimes when he plays Chopin. I think his recording of the A-minor (F-major?) ballade is the best one i have, and it is from 1926! The 1926 recordings of the preludes op. 28 is also very good. Hovever i have also heard him playing other things by Chopin that was, i dunno, sort of, er, "lame" (dont like the word ). I think it was the Scherzo in Chopins second sonata that in some places felt like a single, big party in accidental misses.I have heard Cortot play Debussy as well, but i dont give much for that .But the recordings of him playing Chopin that are good, theyre really, REALLY good! What do you think of him? |

| Re: Alfred Cortot playing Chopin... I have yet to hear Cortot at all (except maybe unawares on the radio), usually relying on Pollini for Chopin. But I'm going to the library on Monday so I'll see if they have anything. ![]() |
