Yes - the RECENT versions are far more intuitive. Hopefully that's the only thing anyone will be using now! But yes, the older versions (especially early versions of Finale) had some less-than-intuitive procedures - but then again, in those days, even Microsoft Word or Excel had pretty steep learning curves!

I hope I live to see the day when you'll be able to think what you want and the computer (or whatever device it evolves into) will do it for you!

Later,

Yeah, if I recall, it was to insert a cross-bar tie, you had to press Ctrl-Alt-Esc-F983-J-Q-N and pick your ear all at the same time while whistling "I've Been Working On The Railroad"

Wait, did you want the tie to go up or down? Up was Ctrl-Alt-Esc-F983-J-Q-N, but down was Shift-U !

:-)

(if anyone doesn't get it, the early versions of Finale often had something intuitive for one symbol - like "<" for crescendo (it didn't, but as an example), so you'd think ">" would be decrescendo, but instead it would be something completely different - like Ctrl-Alt-Esc-< - which of course was impossible to remember)
