Thumbs down A song for a friend

I just saw his nickname and got inspired by it, somehow o.o
So um... if you don't mind, I'll have to off-link, because I don't have a host that allows too much bandwidth to be used (I really need a good server of my own), so well... if it's not allowed, please just erase the link, and I'll do a more thorough search for a host.
Welcome to Earth
I made this last night, mostly (a few more details here and there today).
Since I'm very new to composing, but do very much enjoy it, please give any criticism at all ^_^ (I know not all the samples are desirable, but I'm low on funds, so, yeah.)

Nice ideas, but formally very unfinished. The ideas are too heavy for a snippet like this. To compose it, not merely brainstorm it, you can choose between two paths: Making it more compact, with less build up and anticipation, so it’s more like an eruption, or you can compose it longer and more symphonically, giving the themes a thorough working and filling a bigger form, e. g. sonata form. What you have composed so far may serve as the exposition.

Regards

Thanks for the reply!
Well... Truth be told, I really don't know the first thing about composing, so to get a story going in my music is really hard for me. Basically, what I do now is searching for harmonics to go with;
If you've got any guidelines regarding this or tips, they'd be very much appreciated ^_^

Well, i'm a firm believer in the teachings of harmony, counterpoint and thoery, which all help to become a better composer. I have written some guides to harmony which were text based. I can put them in the music encyclopedia if you like?

BTW the piece was very cool. I started out composing this sort of stuff when I was a bit younger, brings back some memories

As mentioned earlier this is a good piece of writing but it definitely needs to grow.

I third that! Very nice ideas and very emotional, but it could easily get to 3-5 minutes, without becoming boring.
