Composition Assignment/Challenge

I had an idea for a Composition Assignment for those who wanted to participate. Consider it a Challenge. Here are the rules:

1. You will write a Song using the text provided.
2. You may use one (1) accompaniment instrument, and one (1) voice part. The accompaniment instrument may be Piano, Guitar, or other "multi-note" instrument, but "solo" type instruments are welcome as instead. Percussion playable by one (1) person may also be considered an accompaniment instrument. The Voice part may be soprano, alto, tenor, bass, or "medium-voice" etc. type designations. Specialists such as "countertenor" should be avoided.
3. Words, (syllables), phrases, lines, etc. from the text may be repeated as necessary.
4. Piece should be of a reasonable length under 5 minutes is probably reasonable.
5. Any style is OK, though "concert music" (as opposed to "pop song") is encouraged.

Here is the text:

Dandelion
Most perceive as weed
Petals turn to fluff
to spread your wind borne seed
Not a bad idea
I think you must concede

Let me know if you'd like to participate.

Re: Composition Assignment/Challenge

I'm getting upload errors when trying to post either the PDF or the Finale file.

I'll keep trying. (I don't want to put this one on one of the public forums on the NET because I don't know who has the copyright on the lyrics.)

If you're using the text I provided, then I own the copyright to that text :-)

Well - that's the point - how are you going to learn unless you try!

It's a "challenge" - I'm not challenging you, I'm giving you parameters that you can use to challenge yourself.
