Exclamation A Challenge! #1 - Intro-theme

I was watching Onegai Twins the other day and I listened to the introtheme made by KOTOKO (「コトコ」), and I was thinking "Yes, let's make something like that for a change!"

But now I'm bummed. This kind of music, if you're not usually in the rhythm of composing such, is much hard than it might at first sight seem to compose, so I decided to make it into a challenge ^_^

Uploaded is a first part of a theme, and anyone who wants to participate can try to make it better; originality would rock, but well-used clichés are welcome too, concidering the uploaded concept isn't all that original in itself.

There's no prizes, just for fun and learning
For me as well, I get to listen to your individual styles ^_^

Well, all those who want: commence! ^_^

EDIT
I added a midi file for your convenience, now, you'll have to change the instruments yourself; I'm not too familiar with how to create MIDI, so please excuse me for this >.>
I couldn't get it fixed ^_^;

Congratz on a new, fresh idea! You really got some good thematic ideas, as well as a knack of putting them in a right context! However, I understand your urge to collaborate with others, as you see that you don’t feel you get on with the necessary development yourself…

Collaborations are fine, I have no time for it atm, but the next time I have time off for dropping a baseline or programming some midi, I’ll let you know!

And a suggestion in return: The form of the music here is Intro-A-B-A where A is much longer than B. I suggest you try to chop off the second A in the middle and lead the arrangement/melody on in new ways from there. While the A theme is really good, it gets unbalanced when repeated in full after a short B. On the other hand, the ideas could be used as is for improvised solos to the chord/bass progressions.

Regards

Very much so; I think most of us know the feeling where progression has ceased all motor functions >.>

Awesome, looking forward to it

I think I know what you mean; I'll fiddle about with it and post the renewed version here when it's done

I read on the challenge #2 thread that you moved on because no one was interested in doing something to this one. Well, I am working on something. I'm just really slow.

First, I didn't like how choppy it was (almost a ragtime feel), so I've smoothed it just a little. I've done some of my own type of analysis, so in a day or two I can start coming up with other parts and melodies.

I might be the only one doing something with this, and that's fine. But, if someone else would like to join in, I would appreciate any comparisons.

Well, I threw something together for this one. Its not really an original work. I didn't have time to do that. To come up with my own in a week's time would have been impossible, for me anyways.

It is more of an arrangement of the original. I smoothed out certain sections, changed some of the rythums, added a string/pad part for a filler, etc...

Since it isn't original, I don't know what I am looking for in the way of any critque. The sound quality of the mp3 isn't that good at all. My songs posted had a lot better quality. This one is bad because I threw it together so fast. For example, all of the volumes are right. I apologize for that. I just didn't want to work on it for weeks (didn't seem worth it).

However, a lot of the music I do for myself is arrangements of established songs, so if anyone has any suggestions to make those projects sound better or whatever, let me know.

I've uploaded three files: an mp3 version, the score, and a midi file.

Can you clarify....do you want the original theme extended or something in a similar vein? I know nothing about game music and don't write much pop so this would be difficult but a challenge.

basically, the challenge is to write a song like this
Let's say you all have to write the intro theme to a random anime in the genre of your liking and see how it turns out ^_^

It may be upbeat, dramatic, rock or funk, anything, really
However, since I've never ever seen an anime with a classical introtheme (I have seen them mixing it in though), I don't think that'd be the best genre to pick (but if it works, it works ^_^)

Mark, Awesome arrangment!!! Did you figure out the notes by ear or did you find the sheets music somewhere? I would like to see the original sheet music.
