Xmas Arranging Member Collaboration!

We're running a xmas arranging collaboration! Each member arranges a xmas song/piece to the given orchestration and submits it here where we will arrange them into a Music-Web Xmas Suite!

Before you begin make sure no one has already reserved the xmas piece/carol/song you wish to arrange by scrolling down and viewing the posts below. Once you've chosen what you want to arrange, reply here saying what it is. Once you've finished your arrangment please submit in siblius, finale, pdf or midi format. (no MP3 please).

The Orchestration:
2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets (Bb), 2 Bassoons,
4 Horns, 2 Trumpets, 3 Trombones, 1 Tuba
Timpani, Percussion,
String Section
You may write with these instruments in any genre and any style. You can use as many or as little of the instruments you wish.

Once the Xmas Suite has been fully compiled it will be available for every to download. Happy writing!

I have one for Greensleeves, but it included Saxophones. I can easily make it for orchestra. And I'd like to do that.

I think what you were looking for, Aephion, was "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". I think. Does it go:

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star
upon the highest bough.

And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.

---
If so, that's the "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". I'm sure Judy Garland would be proud.

What a good idea but................

If you would have done this in September and posted it on the sibelius site you could have made a bit of money on the side!

Ohh, well maybe next year? We can do this one for fun

I'm not sure how all that sibelius site works, but it would be great publicity for us.

What was the Sibelius site doing? Some promotion or something?

Even though it's good practice, I can never find the time to do stuff like contests and challenges. Which is weird.

---
I'll probably be using the following Instrumentation (for easier reading):

(opt.) Piccolo
2 Flutes
2 Oboes
2 Bb Clarinets
2 Bassoons
4 French Horns in F
2 Bb Trumpets
3 Trombones
Tuba (not certain which one is going to end up being the best)
Timpani
Percussion*
Violin 1
Violin 2
Viola
Violincello
Contrabasso

* Percussion will definitely include Bells, Chimes, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, and Cymbals. I am thinking about including Sleigh Bells, Tambourine, and a few other instruments, such as a Wood Block. This is going to be my first attempt at a fantasy, so here's the hoping for the best!
