Guitar effects, how to do that in virtual instruments?

Greetings friends,

A question for you guitar hero's out there. How can I make my Garritan El. guitar samples from Finale 2009 sound with, say, a distortion effect pedal?
Are there virtual effect pedals too and if yes, how do you use them?

A quick help is enormously appreciated !

Peter

P.S. Steve, in case you read and wonder; yes, it's forthe same song-project and yes I've protected my composer interest....

A. There are are typically some sounds in a sound set - especially if you have a general MIDI sound set - for distorted electric guitar.

B. Yes, there are distortion pedal plug ins - you can probably find some for free at KVR's site www.kvraudio.com

But, what you can use depends on your software - to my knowledge, Finale doesn't let you incorporate third party plug-ins for audio manipulation - I might be wrong though - I'm still on 2003 so maybe it has been implemented?

A better thing to do might be to get Audacity (free on the web) or another MIDI sequencing or Audio recording where you can record Finale sounds into them (export/import) and the put the resulting audio output through a supported plug in. It's real easy to do this in Cubase.

C. The final alternative is to run the audio out of your system, into a non-virtual distortion pedal, and record that to something else. Kind of a hassle though, but if you had Finale on a Laptop and a Desktop, and you've got 2008 (which supports recording audio tracks), it would be possible to do.

HTH,
Steve
