Who records their own samples? I've messed about with recording my own samples a couple of years ago using the age old technology of soundfonts. The results wern't bad, but i didn't really intend to use them. Has anyone else managed to produce any samples that have been useful?

I have recorded some samples of a zither and used a sampler to make it into a soundfont, the result wern't bad for a home recording but better results can be had my adding some synthetic reverb effects.

Re: Who records their own samples? i have sampled ...and used several Celtic pipes recently. it is tedious to scale them authentically... as they are not tempered...grrr...however a marvelous effect.

Re: Who records their own samples? I've only sampled "special effects" or percussive elements more conducive to either sound design or non-traditional / synthetic percussion kinds of things. Haven't really had the opportunity or need to sample pitched, sustaining instruments.
