The platinum editions comein sections: strings, brass, woodwind and percussion. They can be bought togethr though :wink:

In case of solo bass, I can't recommend Spectrasonics Trilogy enough. It blows every other bass library to an unknown non-euclidean dimension, IMHO.

Are you aiming for realistic MIDI mock-ups or do you need the contrabasses just for composing aid of sorts? In latter case you could try for example Synful Orchestra or Garritan Personal Orchestra. For MIDI mock-ups nothing beats the EWQLSO except VSL probably...

Anyone tried Notion yet? It comes with a good sized, basic orchestral sound library that you can add to by specific sections.

I've got the demo, it aint that impressive to be honest. Not bad interface but if you've already got something your happy with, no need to bother with it
