Tuition

Is there a free programm out there that one of the members could provide tuition? All I have worked with is Finale, Sibelius and PComposer. I feel there must be others that would like to stretch there techno wings.

Finale Notepad2007 (and 2006 and 2005) isn't bad, a bit limited, but free. There are some shareware programs that don't cost too much. Perhaps Sibelius has a free (but limited) version. Try the web sites.

Finale and Sibelius (and a few others) do have demo versions that either don't print or self-destruct (like Mr Phelps' tape) after a short while. You could try a demo version to see if you want to buy one.

I meant tuition in the use of samplers. There are quite a few people here that do not use notation programs to compose and I was wondering about tuition on composing using other methods.

Not sure if you mean sample management - samplers like giga 3 / halion etc or sequencers?

I have yet to use an independent sampler. If you mean sequencers, I can post the tutorial stuff for mine (it's disappeared from the internet now but on a pdf). My guess is they're all basically the same but differ in details and facilities. It would give you some idea of the things you need to know and/or what more you need to know! Some of the terminology can be a bit taxing at times. Let me know if you want it posted.
