Re: The Piece with no name yet!

Hi there,

Interesting writing for a wind ensemble, its generally what I spend alot of my time doing. Some things I didn't like though was there was no distinct melody that I could keep hold of and the trills were a little out of place for my taste.

A few things I liked though were the pairing of the flute and bassoon and the horn scoring.

Midi is attached for non siblius users

Re: The Piece with no name yet!

Thanks Maestro ^_^

Well, I like the general theme of it, and it sounds like it'd be good to have it played live. As maestro pointed out, you need a (more obvious?) melody; although, I don't know how you go to work. This could be the intro to the rest?

Right now, it could be useful in an RPG or something, but if that's not your intention, I bet some working on it could change that

Ofcourse, it needs more length, but I think you've noticed that yourself, ne? Anyway, I like the theme

Re: The Piece with no name yet!

Well, Boneman, you certainly have your own style which I probably could recognize anytime by now. I agree with Aephion and the Maestro about the lack of distinct melody, but this may work well for a mood piece. If you're going to continue in this vein, you could go with more complicated harmonies for texture. Just a suggestion.

Incidentally, the trills sound sort of jazzy, the way how some jazz soloists end a phrase with a trill or a shake.

Re: The Piece with no name yet!

Taking things into account I have made some alterations. The piece is the same length however that will grow!

Been working on it a bit more. Let me know what you think. I understand where you are coming from looking for a melody, it is just that sometimes I like to amble along a country path!
