Grandure (WIP)

I'm working on this for... (Heyhey! Guess for what? I'll have you guess about that first ;p )

so um, well, I like what I've got so far - please note that I haven't done anything with panning / volume yet - but I'm kind of stumped on what to do with it.
It's like you have got a canvas with a sketch, but no paint to make it really nice. If anybody has some ideas on what to do with this, please tell me?
Don't be scared to think outside the box, I've heard it could be used in various ways, including Evanescence-esque styles, so let your ideas roam freely!

Re: Grandure (WIP)

Boyo! You have a penchant for rhythms, don't you?!?

Very nice. The material makes it almost a piece in itself. Maybe you should just build up into an ff "final round" of the thematic material there, more potently orchestrated - possibility: the strings playing sustained chords while the pianna hammers out the rhythmic figure played by the strings - ending with them both doing that.

It would make a good movement to a suite of short-ish movements or a backing to a film sequence. This probably sounds like inane comment so I'll give it some more thought.

cheers,
Reith.

Re: Grandure (WIP)

This is a nice tune that leaves you with a goodly number of possibilities on how to continue or end. This sounds like something in which a piano player can really show some chops, so what I hear is a piano solo interlude in the middle with a light string accompaniment. You could use that loud rhythmic string section for a Burt Bacharach fade out (even he says he doesn't know how to end his music) or end with a solo piano ritard and pedal tone. Maybe this isn't what you meant by not knowing what to do with it, Aephion, but I'm an "in the box" kind of guy.

Re: Grandure (WIP)

Wow, this sounds pretty good to me! Congratulations
Your style sounds pretty much like mine as well
I really like this thingy, like said above it really does leave you with a wide range of possibilities to develop. I also do muchly appreciate mr. reith's ideas, they sound like they'll sound like really good when done (ahaha, how's that for eloquence?)!
Maybe that's me and my personality, but I feel like a huge solo in the middle would do just great. If you sorted all the stuff you got there (in fact, that's pretty much already done), or at least tidied up the material a tiny bit it would be already a very pleasant piece.
By the way, Evanescence-esque wouldn't sound bad even, for me
I'm not saying much new stuff because in the many ways you have to develop it, I'm pretty sure you will pick up a real good one. If you gave it such a nice beginning, would be hard not to follow into a great ending. Keep at it, and thumbs up!
