Re: Me to XP No windoze wizard here, but you can always make a clean install, reinstall all softwares, and transfer the data files from the old system. This is probably the best way to do it, anyway, as there are compatibility issues between the system versions regarding software support, and to ensure maximum performance of your system, a clean install is always good. :-) Backup your system first, tho, to be able to revert in case the upgrade should be a disaster. Better even, remove the system HD from your computer, put in a new one, and install system and your softwares on the new one. Then insert your old HD into a suitable slot in your computer, and transfer the data files to your new HD. If you don’t have room for it inside your computer, buy an external HD casing with USB 2.0 and/or FireWire, and transfer through cable. ![]() Regards

Re: Me to XP To clarify: My suggestion was about putting your old HD into an external casing. Most PC towers hav room for more than on HD inside tho. ![]() Regards

Re: Me to XP I suppose your XP comes on a number of CDs/DVD. You should be able to boot from your CD/DVD drive, format your new HD, and take it from there. ![]() Regards

Re: Me to XP It is XP home on 1 CD. I am a little concerned about losing all my files if I do a clean install!

Re: Me to XP Indeed. All you files will be gone. That’s the meaning of a clean install. That’s why you have to do it on another HD. ![]() Regards

Re: Me to XP My God-d-d-d!!!! You wouldn't buy computer stuff off ebay, would you? Let alone a disc drive? (A series of expletives followed that equal terror - unprintable here - plus wild shivering like some ghost has just passed me) What's Me anyway, apart from a name one calls oneself?

Re: Me to XP The rare variety of Windoze known as Millenium Edition. Like Windows 2000, not as good, and compatible with fewer things. ![]() (And I agree with reith that something as picky as hard drives are better bought new!) Regards
