| Re: symphony concertante piano, organ and orchestra Andy: My first time hearing any of your music, well done. I agree that the reverb is a problem. For me, it sounds like the instuments are close miced then reverb added which, I think, is confusing to the ears. Most of the time when you're listening live to big pieces like this, you're hearing all the instruments from a distance so they don't have that close quality. If you prefer that close instrument sound, it seems that less reverb might work better, or if you like a lot of it like that, maybe you want to think about which type would best serve your music. Also, IMO, all those reflections interfere with the succeeding harmony. It makes the music less clear. For me, it's actually tiring because I'm really trying to listen to the piece, hear what's going on and fighting all those reflections at the same time. Maybe there is a type of reverb that would still give you what you like in terms of a big space but would be cleaner. Of course, this is only my opinion. Still, good work. Be Well, Jimmy |

| Re: symphony concertante piano, organ and orchestra Wonderful!!!!!! A couple of points of curiosity? "In the sticks of Alabama.." I know your pain well but I am curious if you were born and raised there (I'm a neighbor just up the road in Georgia so I well understand), I am wondering if a lifelong native how much you feel the "tonal" nature of the 'native' music has affected you. Like you I feel that music should have something to say that the listener can relate to - even if they do not know the "behind the scenes" aspects that is going through the composers mind (or the on goings of his/her life). Also curious if you are aware of the recent building of the organ hall in SW Georgia (the school at the moment eludes me- will check on it as I have a booklet about it- they built a hall there with an organ that is supposed to be state of the art including much electronic controls of the organ instead of the manuals (I'm not an organ player (or keyboardist) by a long shot and do not know if this would be an advantage or a detriment. Also of note is the church in Model, AL just up the road from you that has (to me at least) a lovely older pipe organ built in. OK enough of my rambling, lovely work hope to hear more!! |

| Re: symphony concertante piano, organ and orchestra drb967, I have taken the liberty of extracting this doubtless perfectly innocent remark of yours ![]()
I mean nothing personally. I take the comment as typical and am only interested in slamming the idea it typifies. some guy |
