Movement 4 of my first symphony

Hi!

I finally was able to make a recording of the 4th movement of my first symphony. It is still (of course) a computer simulation, but better then nothing. So try not to hear the metallic fakeness... Hope you like it! Some things were impossible to get right, like the harp glissandi that I really like.

Here is the link to part 4

Here are still the links to the other parts:

part 1:

part 2:

part 3:

The complete score can be read (for free) here:
Score

greetings!

André, Sweden

Outstanding André

the center section solo oboe...is GREAT! it was a joy to listen to...and i BET it will be GRAND fun to play.

if i may?...it has a distinctive Mendelson-ian feel. the colours of his organ sonatas comes to mind.

thanks for sharing!

Hi Andy!
Thanks for listening, and Mendelssohn? Could be, I hope however it is mostly mine, but with so much music from the past it is difficult to be completely myself.

Very nice. Light, easy going and fairly classical! You have a way of spinning/developing thematic material. Nice development section and I liked the variations in your instrumentation/texture. Also the quiet moments before the final cadence.

Great!

Re: Movement 4 of my first symphony

Very nice! I'm curious about how you generate the mp3's. Which program is used or which synthesizer?

When using the windows general midi software wavetable it doesn't sound so good as your instruments.

Best regards,
broch

I did this in Garageband on my mac, using the jam pack Orchestra and some other soundfonts that I found and bought in the past. I just finished the other 3 parts of the symphony as well, you can hear them hear:

the slow movement isn't ye as I want it, needs some remixing still, but I'm happy with part 1 and 3.

thanks for listening!

Re: Movement 4 of my first symphony

Unfortunately I don't think that Garageband exists in a windows version. But it is really some nice compositions you make.

I will take this opportunity to tell you that I have made a search database on the internet at http://www.composermusic.dk
Here you can enter your works into the database and search on instrumentlists. You can even make links to your own homepage so people can find your works.

I made this because, even though you can find a lot of information about music on the internet, you can not find it when you search on the instrumentlist.

You can also check out my homepage about me as a cellist: http://www.cellomusic.dk

best regards,
Broch

Andre...Gosh please no... i, by NO means meant that you had copied or paroted Mendelsson! i merely meant that the colouration was of his joyous nature...which i love dearly.

your work is MOSt original and fresh.

carry on

Re: Movement 4 of my first symphony

I enjoyed this symphony very much, and I'm also reminded of Mendelssohn, not that the music sounds anything like Mendelssohn, but that it has a easy-going genius to it, full of color and joie de vivre. Kudos!

I would have liked to hear some of the harmonic piquancy in movements one and three incorporated into movements two and four. That's my only observation. Since you call it "Another Classical Symphony," I assume you're referring to Prokofiev. In his "Classical Symphony," Prokofiev uses all the formal conventions of a bygone era, but he never reverts to the use of strict common practice harmony.

The last movement, for instance, has such a wonderful carnival-like atmosphere - it would be great fun and humor to spice it up with some "sour" notes.

Cheers, John.

Re: Movement 4 of my first symphony

Nicely done. As for instruments, have you considered the Garritan Personal Orchestra. It's pretty inexpensive and does a nice job. (I'm getting ready to buy it myself, after much research on the cheapest way to get better sounds.)
