| Mass in E Flat Here is the Kyrie movement of a mass I wrote several years ago. I would appreciate some feed-back. This movement is Latin-American feel, but the entire mass is not, although other movements are. I had intended to call it "Mass in Mixed Styles" until someone suggested it might be called "Missa Eclectica" The solo voices are recorded with oboe and tenor sax and the choral parts are string ensemble. Comments anyone! |

| Re: Mass in E Flat My comments are based of listening to the midi, only. I think the idea is nice, but it is has a repetitious nature that makes it more pop-like, unless it was your intention. I think if you reconsider you approach by keeping the latin elements but develop the musical thought as well you'll have a good piece on your hands. |

| Re: Mass in E Flat Pop like? - well, maybe subconsciously I did. Maybe that stems from the fact that I have never really studied composition and consider myself a more of a "song writer". Generally my pieces just flow, basically complete as I put them on paper. I will post other movements along the way and you can see where I come from and where I wind up. I think you will find the other movements are all different in form and style. I will look forward to your comments. Thanks PS Do you have any comments on my "Springtime Love" piano solo on the other forum? |

| Re: Mass in E Flat ![]()
</IMG>motif is hypnotizing and with variations in bowing...(that is tough to accomplish in MIDI) it becomes enchanting. an unusual Kyrie setting. thank you for sharing! andy |

| Re: Mass in E Flat Andy - Thanks for your compliments on the "Kyrie". I sort of had the idea of the old Russian anthem "Hospodi Pomilui" (sp?) And although it is difficult to do, the intent is for the choir to start softly (pp) and build to a FF at the end. Let me ask you a couple of question though. First, what is Sonar? I am not familiar with this. Evidently it gives a better sound reproduction than midi. Second, what did you mean about the "variations in bowing". It is not supposed to be strings here. I only used a string sound to represent the voices. Maybe I should use the voice ahs, or oos in the midi. Please explain what you meant. I look forward to hearing your comments on the other movements of the mass. I will post them all in the next few weeks. Thanks |
