Re: "Invocation" for large orchestra Hi Daniel! I did not get a chance to listen to it but what I did listen to left me wanting to hear this live. I am sure there are far better qualified commentators on this site than I. For me I was looking for an obvious theme to latch on to but I guess that is not what you set out trying to acheive. Great walls of sound throughout. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Re: "Invocation" for large orchestra Boneman, Yes, do give this another listen--all the way through. Big obvious theme there (up, down, down, with a syncopation between the third and fourth notes); you can't miss it. (There's an up, down, up variant of that theme, too. And very little of the "wall" thing you mentioned. A lot of small, subtle foreground work over a deep, rich background.) Anyway, a very listenable piece, zeitblom. It does make me wonder about that whole "orchestral" thing people have going on here, though. You've got sound-producing software that you use to mimic acoustic instruments, with varying degrees of success. Why not use the software to make sounds that are just themselves and not substitutes for something else? I know one of the answers, which is that you're thinking of yourselves as instrumental composers but without ready access to instruments. It just seems that with these very powerful, sophisticated tools you all have, you'd be tempted at the very least to use them for themselves and not for mimicry.

Re: "Invocation" for large orchestra Usually, I'm using Gigastudio 3.0 as sampler, Peter Siedlaczek's Advanced Orchestra for the orchestral sounds and Finale vor the scorewriting. For the solo strings and some other instruments, I use the XSample sounds instead of AO. Greetings Daniel
