Suite for Wind Band Just for you to look at if you are interested. http://www.safemusic.co.uk/_P_329_Su...-Concert-Band/ you will need to scroll down to the scorch link. If you do not have the plug in it is easy enough to get.

I think it's a very well written piece. I honestly can't give anything more of an analysis because the score is small. I really do like it.

Any chance of posting an MP3? I know I can download scorch but my computer is full of little programs just to open a particular file. (Finale Notepad cost me 50MB...well, not much in itself but when those .ims music files I make up come to around 100MB, you don't get many files in 1 Gb...then there are VSTis, so I make an effort to save space where I can...) Thanks. Reith.

I'm not sure. When I started with Muzys, I recorded the results as wavs by plugging the earphone outlet into the line input and recording them using audacity. Far from ideal because it meant moving from digital to analogue and back again. But the results weren't bad. I've posted one or two. Later I found I could "mix down" the file as a wav from the Muzys control panel. I may get scorch to hear your piece - I'll see how much space it takes.

Ok, I downloaded the scorcher. Unfortunately it plays via my sound-card which is fairly awful so I'll look at the score in more detail. But as far as said soundcard allows, it's a joyous piece, structure beyond comment (except as below/tempo changes) easy to listen to. The Andante (57) would be that much more expressive live. I liked the buildup just before 81. The part I liked least was the intro at 132 up to 146 - again, something more might be made of it live. I particularly liked the sonority/texture around 152/use of the CA for that melody. Reminds me just vaguely of a fragment from one of Bill Russo's works. Really gets going after that! 210...do I hear Russo again? ![]() Just my view - 210-226 and on....it seemed to get a bit stop-and-go - the slow and fast sections seemed too short; chopped it up a bit. 226 onward is a good build up to the end, however. All in all, great and I hope if you do a live performance you'll post a recording. I had to rely on my imagination...no comment.. ![]() Reith.

Re: Suite for Wind Band One thing I have found to do to make MP3 files - I first save them as a /wav file then use a conversion program to make the MP3 - this works well as you can change the bit rate to a lower sampling rate without to much loss of quality (CD vs FM quality). Currently I use MP3 Wav Editor (I did a search for MP3 editors - download was free (I cant recall the website it came from though there are several free ones out there). This also has allowed me to reduce some of my more lengthy files into a format I can upload them. NOTE: I hate the way VISTA has altered things - I used to simply use the recorder on windows (98se) to adapt (reduce) files- now I have to use YET another "small" program to accomplish the same effects. This may offer you a better alternative than midi sampling if you have a way to save to a wav file. Hope this is helpful.
