Re: colours from the rainbow - a three movement orchestral composition

Although I'm at work and can't listen to it, I'll say this: anyone that can compose a three movement composition deserves credit. I'll be waiting to hear it once I get home tonight.

By chance, do you happen to have a score? PDF preferably. Or a Finale or Sibelius file, perhaps?

Re: colours from the rainbow - a three movement orchestral composition

Thanks for posting the scores!

This may very well be one of the best scores to be posted here so far. There is not really much to add, but that a lot of nice harp writing drowns in this recording.

Otherwize, the recording presents the work well.

That was the technical part.

I liked this music very much! It is written in the tradition of two of my favourites, Borodin and Stravinsky, yet voicing a highly personal approach. Some instrumentation leads the thoughts to Shostakovich as well, but the intuitive in-your-face ideas are much more Borodin/Stravinsky.

Great work!

Who is playing? Did you conduct it yourself? In which country? Turkey?

What about posting an introduction to yourself in the “About You” forum?

And, by the way, warm welcomes to Music-Web!

Regards

Yes, I am a Turkish composer. The recording you’ve listened is from the live concert of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra on the 6th of May 2005. The conductor is Naci Ozguc.
My favourite composers are Bach, Stravinsky and Bartok, too. You can also see “about me”.

Re: colours from the rainbow - a three movement orchestral composition

Just had a listen sezen and I loved these just as much as the second movement you posted ealier.

Very well written and each of a highly personal approach as Thorolf I think has already mentioned.

What was the occasion for this piece, a commission or just fun?

I composed it for british council's “young musician of the year” competition in 2000 and I was third in the competition.

Have no critical comment! Brilliant. .And refreshing to hear live performance. (I sort of see what Thorolf means about Borodin from the second movement. I can't speak about Stravinsky.) You seem to have a very individual voice.

Very nice.
