| Hi all I would LOVE to know, once and for all, what the names of the best medieval and renaissance DANCE and similar type music composers are, it is very very hard to find anything but secular works, and lute dances etc......... I am in search of dramatic dance, festival and war type medieval music, i.e. Janequin chansons-some of them- and other types such as Je Vivroie Liemente by Guillaume de Machaut, i think the Dufay collective did some very interesting stuff too, but i know not who the composers are nor even the names of the songs!!! This style of medieval, if you will, 'racy' music is virtually impossible to find it seems....... Many thanks Ben |

| Re: Help!!! medieval music with a difference.... Hi Yes indeed, however i am looking not for the typical courtly hand-in-hand style dance music, i am seeking the rather robust medieval dance songs, or rather songs of war or general passion. Alfonso X was known to have done some, but i believe there are many which i just do not know.... Martin Codax was another too.... But perhaps many are anonymous...... Many thanks just the same. Ben |
