Re: Big Bad Bass

I haven't watched all of the videos yet, but the first one is great. Victor Wooten is one of the best bass composers/players, I have his solo album "Soul Circus" which is just great and also Bela Fleck & The Flecktones "Outbound" album which is also great. Actually, Outbound is full of wonderful music, that I can't help my self from hearing it at least once a day Since you like Victor Wooten, you will probably like guys like Marcus Miller and Robert Manring too, I'm sure they have videos on youtube as well.

Re: Big Bad Bass

Jaco Pastorius is an old hero. But my first falling in love with the bass guitar was hearing Jonas Hellborg demonstrating basses @ a shop in Norway. The next revelation came with hearing Mick Karns fretless bassline building on Japan’s (the band’s) record Tin Drum.

Here’s “Visions of China”, with Karn on Fretless Bass:

Studio Version:

Live:

After that, I got my eyes up for old heroes like Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, and not to forget, the fretless hero from Brand X, Percy Jones.
