| Hi. Does anyone know any good music industry books? Specifically, I'm looking for books that deal with the following: 1. The solo musician using the computer (NO bands, singers, studio stuff) 2. Covers aspects of getting music into TV, movies, or video games 3. Good networking tips 4. Covers the dark side of the music industry; pitfalls to watch out for The book doesn't have to cover all 4, but at least one of the topics. If you know a title, could you let me know what numbers it covers? Thanks. |

| Re: any music industry books I should read? Best to browse Amazon with the work "music" in the search..."film music", "music technology" etc. You won't find too many books on music technology because they go out of date quickly. By the time they get on the shelves the technology has shifted. I don't know if the "Musicians' Handbook" is still available - if so, useful for general tips, copyright, ASCAP and MCPS, finding agents and outlets. And be ready to take up any commission or invitation that gets your name on the credits somewhere. Keep every recording you can get of your work, edit it later into a folio. Here's what I got on Amazon.co.uk under "film music composition" http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_...Go.x=5&Go.y=16 the handbook looks available on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Musicians-Hand...4407258&sr=8-2 |
