Yeah, you can add Richard Strauss to my list. Utterly boring - too late to be romantic and too early to get rich in films. The "Thus Spake Thara-whatnot" introduction has to be the boringest amen in musical history... crickey, he had dozens of people to plagiarise if he couldn't think of something more original than a tutti Va-Ia at the end. At least the leading note rises to the tonic
Salome is pretty awful, Rosnekavalier has some nice moments but is SO sugary that it now comes with a health warning.
