I'm running 2006. What's new in 2007, and is it worth paying for the upgrade?

Composer’s suggestion is of course valid for the “what’s new” part but if you had read this very thread, both myself and composer recommends it, supported with facts here http://www.music-web.org/forum/showt...=3348#post3348 and here http://www.music-web.org/forum/showt...=3364#post3364 respectively…

What’s new in Finale 2007?

Here comes the What’s new in Finale 2007 file supplied with Finale. As it serves as promotion only, I suppose that copyright isn’t an issue.

Re: Finale 2007 thread

I personally have tried Finale 2007. Just like 2005, I didn't like how it works. I've been using Finale 2004 for a long time now, and I've just stuck with it. Finale 2005 and 2007 feels so... different. Maybe it's just me.

I couldn't figure out how, in 2005, to zoom out, copy, and paste an entire column of score. Like, in 2004, I'd just set the zoom to 50%, and then copy the part of the score I wanted into the next section. I couldn't do that in 2005.

Re: Finale 2007 thread

There are some mass mover tool clicks that has been there from the very beginning and never changed… no need to zoom out to pick your selection…

Choose Mass Edit Tool. Single-click on the upper left measure of the section you want to choose. Then shift-click on the bottom right measure you want to copy (if it’s just one measure, this means click that measure in the top part first, then scroll down and shift-click the measure in the bottom part). Now you made your selection. To paste anywhere, just alt-shift-click the upper left measure of the destination. A window pops up, what to copy. Should be plain sailing from Finale 2.0 in 1990 and to Finale 2007 (I used them all!).

Re: Finale 2007 thread

Hi,

I have Finale and use it a lot, and have a couple of things I would like to post on this site, but I just can't figure out how to extract the sound file from the .mus file and where to post it. If you know what to do, could you help me out?

Thanks,

nerd011235

Re: Finale 2007 thread

OK, I'm fine on the addition of things, but should I avoid .mus files because some people don't have Finale? Is there a way for non-Finale users to view .mus files?

Re: Finale 2007 thread

Yes, but it the other user has to have Finale Notepad installed. The best way to share your music from a notation program would be to export it to a midi file. These are universal and everyone should have no problems playing it.

Re: Finale 2007 thread

Another way would be to export your Music to wav/mp3 (*) and print your score to pdf (Here's how to do that). That way, the rest of us can have a decent rendering of the piece, and the score in a universal format!

* if you don't export it to mp3 directly, you might want to convert it in order to space. Here's a program which does just that: CDex (on the left).
