Sure! For orchestral music, the most important thing is that you have the possibility of linked parts. This means that any change in the score is immediately mirrored in the parts, and vice versa, with no need for extracting parts to separate files.

(Sibelius had this for years!)

This leaves Finale 2007 with no weak points (except maybe a steep learning curve for some).

Regards

It does create good results for me. But I still find it confusing remembering where everything is (esp if I haven't used it for a while).

You can playback anyplace in the score, you want to now. Easily.

Thorolf and Composer,

Those do sound like VERY good improvements

Is it hard to transfer files from earlier versions of Finale into the latest version?

No, its very simple, Finale sees that its a earlier version, and asks if we want it to convert it to the new version.
And woops, its done

Some of you can probably get the academic version of Finale. It's exactly the same as the ordinary version, except that it costs $200 rather than about $600.

I downloaded (and registered) Finale Notepad 2005, and 2006 (when it came out.) Then I put a few pieces on the Finale Showcase. Finally, Smart Music Inc. just offered me the academic version last spring (then an update for $100 to 2007), perhaps for longivity. It never hurts to hang around.

Does anyone have startup lag in macs? The G5s at school take about 1 1/2-2 minutes for finale to start.

My ole G4 starts fairly quickly... ? Sounds like you have a fonts or disk issue.

There might be compatibility problems but another student has finale 2007 on his g4 laptop & it takes about 5 minutes for finale to start I installed 2007 on 4 out 12 G5s & each of those takes way too long for it to start as well as os x permission problems.

The finale 2006 app is about 35 megabytes but the finale 2007 app is 70 megs :-?
