Converting Finale and Sibelius Files

Is there any way of converting Finale and Sibelius files without having to export and import as midi?

Sibelius will import some versions of Finale directly, depending upon the dates of the two releases e.g. I doubt if any Sibelius will import the most recent Finale 2007. The other way round, or if your Sibelius is older than your Finale file, you need Dolet software from Recordare. I think it's pretty good, but not cheap. I searched on Google, but the first reference gave "page not found".

After years of trying to do it there is an easy way. Ready?

Go to plug ins at the top of the screen. Okay

scroll down to music xml. export. Done it?

Then do it, and save it somewhere then go to sibelius and to the open a file etc. Open the xml file and hey presto it is there! But that is where the fun begins. You will have to work on the score to tidy things up.

Good luck

Both Finale and Sibelius supports Music XML (eXtended Markup Language), and can export this format for importing on the other program. Sibelius Glossary says
MusicXML a file format for transferring music notation between different programs. It is the recommended way of moving music from Finale 2004 or later to Sibelius.

:EDIT: Boneman got it before me, cross posting…

Regards
