The Supernatural, Do you believe?

I thought this would be a great thread to share interesting pictures/thoughts/ideas about the supernatural. There are so many strange things out there that we all choose to ignore. History itself is riddled in strange happenings, mysteries etc.

Here's a pic I found today.

This is a historical picture from Persia. There are two strange things in this. One obviously the wings. But who knows the Persians may have depicted their highest members of society as angels/god-like people. The second is the "wrist watch" type object. You could dismiss the object as a bracelet. Interesting picture none the less.

As you can see I'm a sceptic but believe there could be life/existence (sort of like an agnostic supernatural believer)

Re: The Supernatural, Do you believe?

I'm happy to recognise that phenomena exist beyond human perception/ observation/ measurement. I don't mind. Unlike many I don't want everything explained by scientists. I certainly don't want scientists shafting the magic in my life.
Things sometimes happen in the periphery of my vision... I'm happy to leave them alone as long as they do, me.

Re: The Supernatural, Do you believe?

Well, myself is what in some respects is labelled by others as a “skeptic” and in other respects as an “atheist”. As both of these labels are negative (negating something), I rather prefer the term “bright” to describe how I always turn to reason as my main mystery solver. As for life itself, love, music etc., they can always be described in terms of reason, which is nice for understanding, and in addition they have their own realms of experiences, indeed plucking the strings of the human soul in a trancedental way.

Definition:
• A bright is a person who has a naturalistic worldview.
• A bright's worldview is free of supernatural and mystical elements.
• The ethics and actions of a bright are based on a naturalistic worldview.
This doesn’t deprive me of strong, trancendental experiences, on the contrary, I’d suggest that I regularly have stronger (non-chemically induced) “religious” experiences, than most people calling themselves religious.

As for the picture in question, for anyone really interrested in debunking the arm-worn thingy as a wrist watch, one glance is enough: It’s worn on the inside of the arm, which no wristwatch is…

But if you search hard enough, you’ll always find what isn’t there. People can, in retrospect find anything that has recenly happened, roughly described by cross-reading the Bible. This is regularly taken as proof of biblical prophecies by believers. Alas, the same thing can be obtained by dissecting e. g. the novel “Moby Dick”…

Re: The Supernatural, Do you believe?

Well I may as well make my reappearance here. Hello everyone!

I'm a Christian, which of course means I believe in a supernatural God who can do supernatural things while at the same time having a natural personal relationship with his creation as well as being the creator of nature and all things natural. Pretty simple really...!

Would love to stay and will try to contribute as much as I can. Just -ahem- *small voice* lots of work and things to think about...

That's how I wear my wristwatch.

As for the supernatural, yes I beleive. I also beleive in the concept of God. I also beleive some experiences can elevate one to a different plane of existence which I consider supernatural.

^ yeah! One worn normally to praise the good god of time, and one on the back of his wrist to even out. This should be a conclusive proof of the ancestry of the yin/yang concept, falsely attributed to the chinese

Re: The Supernatural, Do you believe?

I dare say the yin-yang concept was understood by the shamans a very long time ago. I have time-travelled there and received messages. And medicines.
