Musical singer - Hanna-Liina Vősa!

Hanna-Liina Vősa... Is talented musical singer (certainly, in my opinion)!

So here you can read more about her...
Her mypage - - http://www.myspace.com/hannaliinavosa

And homepage - http://www.hannaliina.com/

And one performance @ Estonian TV channel - Kanal2 -
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xv6...ina-jouluingel

So what do you think about her... About her singing.... .... And generally...
Of course, it is hard to say anything, after one short video, but anyway - first impressions.. ?

Re: Musical singer - Hanna-Liina Vősa!

She can sing well, in tune and expressively but her voice is a little too "powerful" for me. She should do well among the Shania Twain and Celine Dion set. "Nobody's Side" and "Once on a Dream" are both very nice. Now I listen for the second time, she's fairly original among today's singers.

For pop/ballad-style singing I like smaller voices like Alison Krause in her non-bluegrass pieces, early Joni Mitchell (pre-"Blue" album) or very small voices like Rose Macdowall and Jill Bryson in their earliest indie-label days.

Here is their first single, Trees and Flowers. (It is already a public domain file to be shared, not sold.) At first it sounds like a dolly pop song but the words are slightly bitter, making it poignant. (It's actually about Jill's agrophobia.) Just a few moments will show you what I mean:

(I am allowed to reproduce this lyric fragment but not sell it)

Dawn cracks the dark
And it breaks the silence
Of my waking hours
And my heartbeat's licence

For I hate the trees
And I hate the flowers
And I hate the buildings
And the way they tower over me
Can't you see
I get so frightened
No-one else seems frightened
Only me, only me.

Yes, i like this singer....

And, yes Hanna-Liina's voice is stronger, as you said.... That's why i like it! It means, it is one reason why i like her singing...
And point in this song you linked, is very good!!! It force you to think! Even, if melody and singing is fearful, maybe even timorous... But this is the point in this, i guess..
All "good" creation mostly comes from our own experiences... Because fiction can't be so real, so full of emotions.. It is impossible..
For example Stravinsky's creation (mostly) is for me too "mechanical"... I can feel in it too much of "jerrybuild" (knock up)...

Anyway.. As i said i like them both, but maybe just little bit more Hanna-Liina... Because of her cheerful and brave attitude to life..
I like, that tenderness, strength of mind and vitality, are in same person..
