Yeah Chris, but did you pass, or did you ace it :-)

Just ribbing you.

Congratualtions.

So where do you go now? ABRSM is Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, right? Is there another school after that, or is it like University or something? Are you able to take something immediately, or do you have to wait to go to a "higher" school yet?

Congratulations again,

Sincerely,
Steve

Unfortunately I didn't ace it . At the time I was doing my A levels as well, and I learnt the material in 6 months so overall I thought I did quite well cosidering the cirmcumstances.

As for music theory qualifications I can't go any higher but I'm off in september to Birmingham Conservatoire to study composition for 4 years which will of course entails lots of music theory At the end I should have a BMus Honours degree.

Re: I passed my grade 8 music theory!

How hard/complex can theory get? Does this test include things like counterpoint and fugue. In an effort to find something to compare it to, I ask this: Have you ever seen 2nd-year music majors theory tests or seen what is taught in class? I myself have done personal study and advanced myself beyond that level, but most music majors only go that far.

Oh, and congratulations!

You won't "should have", you "will have" that degree. And I hope you decide to continue your studies even further!

I hop you don't get too busy to keep maintaining this forum - which, by the way, isn't a bad thing to have on your resume as well.

Best of luck (you won't need too much luck, because you've already got a great deal of skill).

Best,
Steve
