Possibly Interesting

A similar forum to this one but it's older: http://www.composeforums.com/forum/d...tz00HideCat2=Y

A forum on computer music generation: http://www.northernsounds.com/

MaestroX will become famous soon enough
I'm a little uneasy about posting links to forums that could be considered our competitors. Unless we could convert some to Music-Web, which seems clausable for composeforums, but I don't think for northern sounds. Northern sounds is still qutie active where as composeforums seems to be on its way out.

You are of course free to fear the competition. However, I suggest that secrecy is no viable policy in the long run: It will most certainly make it more difficult to aquire new friends and possible allies if all adopts this policy…

The vision of Music-Web to encompass the encyclopedia project, a forum, an online center, sheet music and homepages is quite unique

From this point of view, there is no competition…

Regards

Thanks for the support. As with any website, the problem now is getting people here. A most difficult task.
The encyclopedia project will really be getting off the ground soon. As will the online music centre and the sheet music (score centre). If your interested in having some input on the online music centre and the score centre check out here

I would try not to be too worried about being in competition. I would see them as an additional resource which could be inter-twined with. Be nice with each other and you'll slowly get users who intermingle between the two forums, in the same way that I'm in CTG and here also (yeah, I know, it's not an exact similarity... well, far from it, but you get the idea).

Tangos

An Argentine site about the tango. The music links are good. The discussions are mostly in Spanish. There's not much technical though. Carlos Gardel is still popular 70 years after his death.

I happened on the "compose" site earlier on but didn't join for reasons I've forgotten now even if my main musical interest is composing (with a little live performance, time and arrangements permitting). Perhaps I didn't have much time then.

As a suggestion, the feature worth purloining is the "showcase". In the predecessor to this site, there was a music-centre but I've found no equivalent here (yet). Is there any mileage in something like that here - performers or composers could present their talents (or lack of, im my case!).

Just to add - Maestrox' proposed banner/logo is a lot more seductive than the composers' site.

discussion

I would like to see somewhere on the net (here, of course as first choice) where people could just have some music discussions.

Modern American literature got a boost from having discussions among aspiring writers in San Francisco, then New Orleans, and Greenwich Village. (No one can afford those locales now.) It would be nice to just kick around ideas here and post pieces (and pieces of pieces) for criticisms. (At least for me; I can't speak for others.)
