Robert Still - Songs for Soprano // Baritone

Down comes the rain!!! (Sorry, nothing to do with this post. I'm sitting in the sun lounge, the sun out, warm - and in the space of a minute it's pelting down. So the place is now a rain lounge. I bet it thunders...)

I doubt too many members have heard, even 'heard of' the Brit composer Robert Still - another who doesn't deserve neglect while people like Vaughan Williams still claim fame.

Anyway, I happened upon a CD reissue of his songs. They're superb. I'd heard about them but the LP originals were long deleted. They appear on a CD with his one recorded chamber work for which I initially bought it.

As Still paid for the performances, the copyright lies with his estate and someone has been able to revive them from the master tapes. I'm not particularly a "songs" fan but these are most pleasant.
