Schostakovich

Hi!

I was looking in the Encyclopedia for some information about Schostakovich and then I saw, that above the picture on the right side it said "Ludwig Van Beethoven". But still it was Schostakovich (at least I think it was... )

Hurrah... This is my first thread as a thread starter...

Re: Schostakovich

Whoops my mistake there, I use the same template for consistency and forgot to change the name.

Re: Schostakovich

A note on the name: The proper english transcription of the name is Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich (Дмитрий Дмитриевич Шостакович); the usage of sch is strictly german in cyrillic transcriptions, and the “ий” is strictly speaking “ij” which earlier was more often transcribed to “y”, but this is rather obsolete, and now the main transcription is “i”. Normalised spelling suggested for main article, and build a bunch of redirects for less common transcriptions (e. g. the french “Chostakovich”, which makes no distinction between the sh and ch sounds).

Regards

Re: Schostakovich

Nice idea Thorolf.

Just for anyone unsure how to do redirects simply go to the page you want redirect by putting the name in the search box and pressing "go".

You should come to the wiki's search engine. At the top there will be a red link saying: "create this page"....click it.

On the page put nothing but this:

#redirect [[page title here]]
Hope this helps

Re: Schostakovich

Just to make things clear, the [[page title]] MaestroX talks about is the title of the page you want to redirect to, and not the title of the page you just created.
