| Variations on La Folia for String Quartet It was suggested (on a tango thread) that I arrange some stuff for chamber music or orchestra. I've never tried that (mostly piano) so I thought to get my toes wet by trying something for quartet based on La Folia. http://www.mediamax.com/sudoplatov/H...oliana01-1.mp3 Last edited by ttw : 06-06-2007 at 05:56 AM. | Re: Variations on La Folia for String Quartet Just had a listen and its a nice piece. Overall the harmony and melodic development is handled well in the style you are writing in. Its definatly a fresh change from your piano writing ![]() Just wondering why you used the "La Folia" idea, it seems to have been done to death. Regards |

| Re: Variations on La Folia for String Quartet I did the Folia just for fun. I was concentrating on the technique of the instruments (and to some extent, to see if I could write in 4-part harmony, I never tried that before.) The idea was to separate technique from trying to come up with a melody. (And to avoid parallels when one has lots of root position chords, too.) |
