String Concerto No.1 Baroque string orchestra classical composition. I started this many years ago, but didn't finish it up until now. There are 6 tracks playing and they are: Violin 1 Violin 2 Viola Cello Contrabass Tympani String Concerto No.

Not bad. I really liked the beginning and ending section. Just one sugesstion. Maybe in the middle section you should have more bass. It just feels a little empty. Very good otherwise.

Beginning and the part from about 1:40 on are good. There's a bit of a let-down in impetus about :40 to 1:20 or so. You might get a bit more drive by connecting the phrases in a subsidary voice.

very good. You must finish it. The first part is very melodic. the second part is mainly scale, 3 part I like the repetition of note cover by background accompany. for me I like the first part, and the 3 part.

Its a nice piece. I would suggest that the there be more interaction between the parts. Right now, it seems that the violins dominate with the melodic material. I think if you are going to call it a string concerto it might be nice to have the other part become active with the melodic material in some way, kind of like Bach's brandenburg concerti. But, like I said its a good piece, and I like it.

Cool piece. Not entirely idiomatic for baroque, but hey, living in the 20th and 21st century should affect you somewhat, not? The beginning sounds a bit unfortunately like Bach Brandenburg VI and you have a couple more quotations -- deliberately? -- but there are some quite inspired passages. I really like the middle part where the voices are answering each other. In the beginning the bass is a bit too parallel with the melody for my taste, and probably for classical voice leading. But very enjoyable overall. Victor.

Awesome piece... it didn't sound baroque to me at all until 1:00 or later... It is like a baroque piece with a modern introduction... how weird is that. I should tell you that the solo violin almost hurt my ears. I know you were taking advantage of the violins range... but that is just a liitle high don't you think? The piece sort of reminded me of a pirate dungeon's theme song in a game like Pirates of the Carribbean... Good job overall.

I don't mind that. Stravinsky did it in Dumbarton Oaks, and the Baroque composers used each other's themes with great freedom. I was a bit disappointed not to hear much variation of texture, or any change of key, but that is no problem if this is the start of a longer movement and these things happen later. Since you have timps, how about a solo passage for them? Are you purist and give the part only two pitches or do you expect pedal timps, which could have a tune?

Great Piece!! Although it sounds quite like a theme and variations to me. I love the themes in here they're great and very inspiring, except I couldn't help thinking that it needed a slower more peaceful section to calm things down a little in the middle maybe? I liked your use of the timpani and different treble voices but I have to agree with others that you could use some more bass here and there. Great work! Regards, Ben
