A Major Celebration

ok, this is a piece i wrote for my school concert-band ..... I think i need to put it in here because its not really a major composition and it is too short to put anywhere else. tell me what u think, i was aiming for a really happy feel to the music. I also tried to use Celtic-sounding melodies as a start and then just built on it. enjoy!.

Hi high school bassoonist,

I will download your piece when I get home, I'm at school at the moment and there are no speakers. Thanks for putting a sibelius file on, I find it much easier when i've got a score to look at.

This is a very upbeat and cheerful piece. I like your ritornello theme. One of the forms that I introduce to my composition students early is the Rondo form. It is a great way to understanding using form to take already existing ideas and make new sections out of them in the Rondo form with a ritornello. Sometimes, its even nice to have ritornello appear in varied form.
Perhaps you should look into it.

This is indeed a fun sounding piece. You should be proud.

I managed to have a listen and a look at the score on sibelius. Good job, a nice piece. Did you compose this for any sort of occasion?

not really, i composed more out of wanted to hear something cheerful , because i wrote a few really gloomy things before this. I also wanted to experiment with celtic sounding melodies etc, so it was more out of boredom and intrest , then for any occasion. but the more i listen to it , i want to play it for someones birthday, and tag on " Happy birthday" at the end in double speed.!

I can imagine that quite well

Its a nice piece, well done. Your well on your way to create some really good stuff. You could try experimenting with folk melodies more in some other pieces as it seems to be a idea that you could use and manipulate well
