How Warm My Love Grows For Thee It's warm in a way that you might not expect. I would love to have a description of the way this piece makes you feel in relation to its title.

Not sure what to make of it - partly because midi denies it the chance to be expressive in the particular sense of dynamics and differentiating the various voices...that may be possible by editing the midi list. Frankly, it comes over more as a dirge or chorale, a processional maybe, with a canonified opening. The deep bass at 0:48 is (to me) too deep and could do with doubling an octave above. Then from 0:56 it continues as a pedal right on to 2:03 where it stops. Fine, except that during its run it it has various effects on the harmony above then just stops (without said harmony reaching any conclusion - you have a build up of chords at 1:27 that suggests you're going to reach a climax of sorts but it resolves onto an earlier motive in the same tonal centre). And the change of texture above it at 1:38 tends to make it obtrusive - some variation, even lifting it an octave there, would be welcome. Huh, I've just realised you didn't ask for that (still, if it's ok, I'll leave it there - if not, PM me and I'll erase it). I couldn't relate the music to the title - possibly because the music sounds a bit baleful so I'd relate it to an unrequited love if at all. If produced in a more expressive rendering it might mean something different. I'm not sure if that's the reaction you want but... Reith

Yes Thanks Reith! I need such feedback. Writing is soo isolating, you just can't hear objectively, your own work, without a community of listeners. Thanks so much. I heard everything you mentioned. I wrote this piece when I was say 19 or so.

Yo, MJ! Like Reith, I couldn't relate the title to the tune, but I found the tune interesting and visual. I've always liked tone clusters and in HWMLGFT, they are used effectively as your instruments sort of glide into and out of them. Good for you that you're not afraid of dissonance like so many are these days. I would say, and please forgive me if this sounds offensive, that this would be a good 2nd movement to your Cabbie piece. Sure, you may have had totally different images when you wrote HWMLGFT, but I'm sure your choreographer friend would do good work with this number because, to me, it provides a nice, dark contrast with the linear, upbeat feel of "Cabbie." Just something to think about.
