The Frog Prince - Musical

Hey everyone! It's 3:50 in the morning where I am and I just finished reworking my opening number to my musical...yesh...

I'm gonna post some files of the Overture (#00), the Introduction to 'The Frog Prince' (#01), and The Festival of the Year (#02). Festival is the first sung opening number. Yesh, musicals are confusing.

I'm also posting all of the libretto I have (since I'm doing everything basically), including through all these songs and all the way through the rough rough start of scene six. Just kinda gives you an idea of what I need to work on.

Note 1: It'd probably be better to read the start of the libretto and when the song comes up, listen to it. That should help you get a better feel for how it should work.

Note 2: In Festival, I go from 2/2 to 3/4. I have that exchange run fairly smoothly. When it jumps back to 2/2, however, try to imagine that the speaker of the line "He won't?" just doesn't get it. That's why the fermata is on the word 'He'. Kinda like if you were to say... "He...............won't?"

Instrumentation:
Flute
Clarinet
French Horn
2 Violins
Cello
Bass (preferably Doublebass, I guess could be electric if need be...hmm)
Piano
Percussion (I'm still working on the percussion part for the last 1/3 of Festival)

It only allows me to post 5 files at once.

So, here's the PDF of Festival of the Year.

I have to go back and do the pdfs at a lower resolution. Better isn't always better. Bigger, yes, so sorry to anybody trying to open the files and they take forever and a day. But at least Festival of the Year I caught myself on it, so the pdf is only 600~ish kb instead of the 2mb for the other.

I liked both the Overture and the Festival of the year. All the music has a great whimsical sense to it. I like the meter changing in the "Festival".

Good luck with the rest of the musical. I'm looking forward to hearing more of the movements. Are you planning to have this performed after you've completed it?

MaestroX will become famous soon enough
I really enjoyed both the Overture and the Festival of the year, as Majesty I'm interested in your overall movements. Both pieces are well composed, keep up the good work!

I hope it will be performed. It started back in 2000 in High School using a friend's idea. I was originally only going to be the orchestration guy, but unfortunately the composer had to bow out. So, I took that on.

And then the guy who came up with the idea of doing a Frog Prince musical left for college, but I still keep in touch. He's sorta wondering exactly what I've managed to get done.

I've got a Theatre Chair at a local college reviewing what I have so far of the libretto. I have some connections, thankfully.

Here's the score and script as one pdf file. I am doing this for all of you as well as for me at work (can't send files there from home).

EDIT

I removed this file, just because it's too much space.
