Nice piece. Congrats about getting the commission.
I have a couple of points, if that's ok:

The string harmony seemed a bit thin and closed-in around 0:06. Same at c 1:50 when the progression was repeated.
The string texture often seemed thin but this is probably the result of midi, not your scoring. It filled out more starting at 4:20. At 5.30 the strings started coming into their own.

The relationship between the soloist and strings came over well. The stride-like episode at 5:31 was good. I can hear through the midi to what this would sound like 'live'.

Yup. Good stuff!

ps: I quite liked the original title: Sonatiana... has a certain ring to it. Could be the name of a princess.

I have it on CD now, a live recording. Can it be posted here or would the file be too big?

You can rip out the track and convert it to mp3. Have a look at a little bit of free software: CDex. Once installed, you press f4 to get the set-up panels for your libraries and things, then f11 to do mp3 conversions - you get a list in the window to choose what you want to convert (from whatever library you set up or you can browse elsewhere).

Nice piece Boneman, I think i'm beginning to see into your style. Your music is often through composed, and is usually a sort of jorney (very apprant in your sextet for six clarinets).

One of my favourite parts of this was the scoring and melodic writing in 3:30 very nice. I think reith hit upon every query I had about it. Good stuff, and congrats on the commission!

If the file is converted into a mp3 you should be able to upload it directly to Music-Web.

Here is the live recording of the premiere. Excuse the slips and tuning!
