Christmas Lights

Hey everybody, this is the first song I've posted, so it's definitley not as good as some of the other ones on here. Still, I'd appreciate critiques.

I wrote this around Christmas, and the title is temporary. Any better ideas?

Hello and welcome to Music Web

The piece you have here isn't that bad. Although there are a few things I'd like to point out.

Quite a few times my ears picked up a little too much Parallel harmony IMO. In most of the world of music, parallel harmony isn't widely considered a very good method of harmonizing. IMO you could stand to add some more varied harmony

Other than that, the MIDI has quite a perverted sound for the instruments that kind of destroys their potential IMO, but other than the harmony, you have a nice start

Keep composing!

Agreed. Midi doesn't help but I didn't have too much trouble with the harmony. I quite liked the opening and the use of unisons. It hasd an olde world flavour and seemed almost game-like.

It's a great start and would sound better live or with a sequencer/instrument samples than the midi allows you. Thanks for letting us have a listen.

cheers,
Reith.

Thanks for the replies. I don't really know much about writing on the computer, so right now I'm using a program called Anvil Studio. Is there anything better I can use?

Hello,

As the others have said, its a nice piece that would be better with some tweaks

I've used Anvil Studio before and its good for free For better notation programs Sibelius is the way to go , there is also Finale which seems to be popular aswell. So I recomend getting the demos and trying them out for yourself.
