Nice and bombastic at the beginning. Getting closer to the middle the piece changes and becomes a bit more serious. The middle part of the piece wasn't as uplifting as the beginning, but to the end it regains some of that bounciness that I like. The ending was maybe stretched a bit too far, but it did contribute to the comical sense of the piece.

The material in the piece varies quite a lot, and I couldn't figure if there were any connected themes/melodies in it. But this way the piece was like a joyrney where you get to see all kinds of sights along the way.

The sounds near the middle of the piece remind me of french accordion music, but that's probably just because I'm listening to the raw MIDI. Overall, a very fun and uplifting piece. It would be nice to hear it played on samples/real sextet. Good work!

Seven clarinets? In the same room? Hmmm . . . A brassman's nightmare

Seriously, Boneman, I like this piece. Like Crimson says, it's like a journey where you experience all kinds of things. Have you picked up the Mussorgsky bug, or what? The unexpected and humourous twists and turns like the major-minor switchbacks are really enjoyable. I also like the tight harmony at around 03:40. Should be a fun piece to play. Good job, man.

Re: Sextet for Seven Clarinets

Very Boneman piece this. Sextet for 7 players - is one skiving, I ask myself?
Nice harmony around 1:30.

Liked the changes of rhythm. Clever composition - you get a lot into the 5 minutes. Did the commissioners like it?
