| My third short piano piece in my For Children album: "A mid day nap" Here is the third short piano piece, with the title "A mid day nap". I decided that the short pieces are going to be part of an album, that I'm going to call "For Children". Writing them will be an interesting exercise for me, they will be written mainly in a simple A-B-A format, so I can spent more time focusing on the phrase structure. I'm sure there must be a lot of ways in constructing them. Anyway.. here is the third piece: http://www.andrevanharen.com/forchildren.htm André |

It begins a little "lullaby-ish", but the stacatto stuff at the first change-up seems like the kid is jerking and twitching in their sleep (which my kids did as they napped when they used to nap). But It doesn't sound like you're going for program music here :-). Your phrase structure is very nice here though, so it seems like you're accomplishing your goal. It of course reminds me of Schumann's and Schubert's works for children (that's a compliment, not a comparison) and I like the key areas you go through. Steve |
