Will, this is supposed to be a forum for YOUR music.

Unless this is YOUR arrangement of this piece, then I think you'd want to post it in the "Playing and Singing" forum, especially if you want comments on your performance of the piece, or just want to discuss the piece in general.

If it IS an arrangement you made, you should let us know because the way your original post reads:

"Here's some new music from me"

tells us you COMPOSED it, but:

"It's by D'Agostino" tells us it's not by you!

it's kind of hard to tell what you want.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Close to Heaven

There isn't a frigging "Performance" Section or anything for petes sake where on earth am I supposed to post it if I want some comments on my interpretation? There isn't a single written rule anywhere that says "ONLY post your music" this is my interpretation of the piece and I just wanted some comments on that.

I'm not much of a composer myself I know, so what else can I do but play other's music in my own way and is it so wrong to want some feedback on that?

Nevermind, mods can delete this thread if they want

Re: Close to Heaven

sounds like a lovely piece. Is any of the performance yours, or is it a straight performance from an original score?

I changed a few things (some of the harmonies and performance items) But about 75% of it is the original piece

Thanks for the comment

In the "Understanding, Writing and Performing" forum, there's a "Playing and Singing" category, and if this is an arrangement, which, judging from your conversation with Boneman, it is, then it would attract attention in the "Composing/Arranging" section.

There isn't a single written rule anywhere that says "ONLY post your music" this is my interpretation of the piece and I just wanted some comments on that.
Gee Will, don't get your panties in a wad :-). My point is, if you want comments on something, you be far more likely to get more constructive comments if you post in the most appropriate forum. I was responding to the fact that no one had commented yet (why you posted the 2nd message) because they were likely confused - was this your piece, someone elses, an arrangment, did you want comment on the piece, the arrangement, your performance, and so on. So the lack of response was probably due to confusion.

I'm not much of a composer myself I know, so what else can I do but play other's music in my own way and is it so wrong to want some feedback on that?
No, absolutely not. Let's say, hopefully you'll accept constructive feedback on your interpretation, and that will help you improve your ability to hone your interpretive skills. Likewise, I hope you'll accept my constructive feedback on your choice of forum in which to post, which will help improve your ability to get the most constructive feedback on the points you're interested in.

Nevermind, mods can delete this thread if they want.
Well, hopefully they don't, because anyone who sees it may also come to understand that by posting in the appropriate forum, and/or describing what exactly you're looking to get out of the discussion, they will get the best answers/suggestions, rather than no responses at all (which is where I think this post was headed before I chimed in).

So, just trying to help you out. No hard feelings.

Steve

Steve
I wasn't angry at you, just at what was stated, I will admit I did take a few steps too far and I apologize for that'

But in the future I will remember what you said
