Two compositions for my class

Here are two compositions I did for my compositions class. The're both pretty crappy but I figured you guys might want to see them anyway. They are both scored for Piano and oboe although I performed the second one with an alto saxaphonist. The first one is titled "Healing" and the second one is called "The Middle Class Conscience" or "Pragmatism." THe first one is slow and lyrical and uses lots of chord built off of fifths. The second one uses an ostinato which changes its textures threes times, getting faster and faster.
Sorry, but I don't have any other format but Sibelius and I don't know how to make midis. I would love to hear any comments you might have.

I like the first two lines of Healing - very relaxing
- and the first half of the last line - it reminds me of 1970 US comedies (e.g.Taxi). Not sure about the solo in the middle - but then I don'tlike Jazz...

Intresting B d Q. Not sure where SM gets the idea of jazz from, anyway. For me there could have been more dynamic contrast even thought the pieces are quite short dynamic colour is still important.

The piano part in 1 bar 12 might need re-arranging. The use of widely spaced harmonies is great but what about taking the right hand another octave higher so as not to cloud the oboe line?

In 2 why not try the use of triplets in the left hand then semi quavers to introduce the felling of an accel.

Keep up the good work!
