oh yeah, 100 % agreeance. i mean, im really just starting out, but this is frustrating..... just too good meastro, im glad i'll be doing performance also next year..... just a few questions : if you were to put this to an actual film, what kind of film would it be?
2) it sounds quite LOTR ish at the start (congrats on getting that sound) leading onto, what are your influences when it comes to writing film music.
3) i just gotta know, how long have you been doing composition?
4) what program did you use to get the MP3 and well done it sounds brilliant.
5) what do you think of the war on terror (optional )

thanks (sorry theres so many) H.S.B - your frendly neighbourhood bassoonist thingy

Re: Film Overture

Thanks

I'll try answer best I can

1) Hmm, I'm not sure, maybe a fantasy adventure would fit it quite well?
2) My influences range from all kinds of films really, even classical music has a part. I don't think I could pin it down to a single source or genre of films. Its best to be open to all sorts of influences and music. You can pick up alot of good ideas that way.
3) Officially been composing for 3-4 years but only actually studied it with a tutor for 1 and a half.
4) Once I've created the score in sibelius I export the midi file into Cubase and use EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Sample Library, then do some mixing and tweaking and export it to MP3
5) hmmm, difficult, Generally I think the whole "War on Terror" idea is just pushed by the government to hold the general public in fear. It seems every other day we are told we are going to die from x, the world will end etc (Is this the same in other countries? In the UK it seems almost every week we are told another doomsday story that is "right around the corner"). Governments can easily then just exploit that fear.

Re: Film Overture

We have lots of Wars On in the US.

War On Terror (Bush II)
War On Drugs (Nixon)
War On Poverty (Johnson)
War On Cancer (Nixon)
War On Crime (Everyone)

All these are problems. None of them are "Wars" in any useful sense. Governments must give the appearance of doing something.
