"Piano and Strings" continued...

Well not really continued. I didn't have much luck extending the original piece but this is what I came up with. If they sound remarkably similiar its because they were supposed to fit together:] Just got tired trying to make stuff fit so I might as well post this as a separate track just to see what everyone thinks of it...http://www.myspace.com/todayisthedaynv

Re: "Piano and Strings" continued...

This could be several things, a solemn processional, a pastorale, a vision of wide open rural spaces. Altogether relaxing and pleasant harmony.

The only trouble was it ended too soon. I presume it wasn't finished. Is it possible to extend it a bit? This could go on for 5 minutes at least with a mini-climax.

So - very nice but you could do quite a lot with this material.

cheers,
reith

I agree with Reith, its very nice it just needs extending. The theme reminds me of the aftermath of a war film or somthing similar.

A climax at the end or middle of the piece would sound excellent indeed!

Looking foward to seeing what you make of this

Hello amI4!

Please continue to write on this piece! You are really into something very nice here. "Paint the colors of the sunrise" with those lovely strings with piano in the lead. And show us all that is good in american musical tradition. Continue throughout the piece to let minor seconds resolve into your dominant and subdominant chords.

I love it!

A very solemn sounding piece, indeed. It does need to be extended. What you have so far seems as if it would serve as a "cell" idea. I see the potential for a grand piece. When I say grand, I mean on an emotional, formal/developmental scale. In the opening you have given yourself a nice set of motifs and ideas to build upon. I hope you do work on extending this. I would just advise that you take your time in doing so in order not to rush the process and ruin the potential that this piece may have.

Good start!
