Neverwinterwood - Greenheart

Hello everybody!

My real name is Yngve Eriksen, and I am from Norway. I am currently working on a suite for use in a game module (Neverwinternights). This is the first movement, and the instrumentation is stringquartet, harp and flute.

Re: Neverwinterwood - Greenheart

Hello!

I moved this thread to the soundtrack/games forum as it might attract your particular audience as well as the many browsers.

This has the hallmark of experience. I liked the piece - has almost a "Fable" feel to it - relaxing, nicely scored and would make a good backing to a rural scene - at least, that's how it came over to me.

cheers,
reith

Re: Neverwinterwood - Greenheart

Being a player of both NWN 1 & 2, I was interested to hear some fan-made music for the game. The piece is very light in mood, and I liked it. It reminded me of the music of someone I know on another music site. Some of his pieces have the same kind of lightness in them.

I think this piece works best as background or mood music. I found it hard to grasp any melodies in particular as they are very variable. Still, the piece had a nice relaxing effect. The atmospehere here suits a forest scene very well. I could almost see the forest in my mind's eye. Very enjoyable piece overall!

Re: Neverwinterwood - Greenheart

Hey Yerik,

I'm a bit of a game music fan though I've never played Neverwinter nights I know the genre quite well.

The music was nice, and fitted the scene you describe perfectly. I like the light heartedness sort of distance the piece had. Nice work

I have done a few game inspired pieces you may be interested in. One of which is here: Golden Valour Overture
Its a bit more upbeat but hopefully you'll find it interesting

I think this is an interesting point. Steering a course between writing program music with good melodies/development and not making it so obtrusive it steals from the game - or film because they parallel to some degree. It's an art that I haven't acquired yet.

But this piece was relaxing and pleasant in its own right but would suit a scene where the player is able to wander around, explore paths and that. Hence my thoughts about Fable and the rustic.

Again, look forward to the next movement!
