Neverwinterwoods - Elegia

Hereīs the next movement that I have finished. Same instrumentation and "forest mood".

Download link

I will point out that the downloadable scores are not set up for real performance. They are set up for the mp3 files.

Re: Neverwinterwoods - Elegia

Well....

This.....is a beautiful piece of music - excuse me if you don't agree but - impressionistic. I specially liked the translucent scoring, the balance of the accompaniment.

Altogether magical. There was a point when you gave me a scare...I thought it was going to turn diatonic/modal....but no, you preserved that dissonant half-light with the accompaniment.

Very enjoyable. Well produced.
congrats.

Re: Neverwinterwoods - Elegia

Thank you reith! I am so glad you liked it!
I understand why you call it "impressionistic". I donīt think I can hide my love for Debussy in this piece. Though, Debussy himself was reluctant to be associated with that term. And I can understand that. Music is basically an abstract form of art, and we could really discuss whether impressionism is the right term in music. Debussy regarded himself more a "symbolist", like many other late nineteenth century artists.

Absolutely. And if I'd known you liked Debussy I'd have said "symbolist" of your piece.
Do you know, you're the first person I've met to refer to Debussy as a symbolist. I'm not quite so alone as I thought, therefore!

Thanks for the nice words! I think we have a lot in common. I can tell just by the way your Sinfonietta hits me like a hammer! You are invited to my buddy list.
