UPDATED: Composing for Theatre -- Dracula...a variation

So I'm currently writing original music for an exciting project that will be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, August 3-11: a play called, Dracula...a variation. It's a very quirky, dry, dark, comedic variation on the story we all know. I would love to know what you think:

Prologue - Renfield's Theme

Thanks for listening,

Chris

Re: Composing for Theatre: Dracula

Nice pieces. I liked the clear (if sometimes blurry) harmony in #2 alternating with the middle section at 0'21" though the bass drum woke me up!

Looking forward to hearing more when the time's right.
Best of luck with the play/project.

Re: Composing for Theatre: Dracula

Very nice. The violin introductions are nice in the way that they keep the...... how should we say... Transylvanian feel... the slow build up gives a nice feel of immersion in the music, and the changes (like reith said about the bass drum) keep the audience engaged in the music. lovely work so far, would love to hear it all in full however. But very nice so far.

Awesome! The violin in the Renfield's Theme is very good, and Mina's seduction is very film-like. Will you be able to post the full version at some point?

Re: Composing for Theatre: Dracula

Thank you very much for listening and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yeah, I will post some finalized cues once the plays gets going and I get the okay to release them. There's still quite a bit left to write, so wish me luck. The director keeps doing re-writes, updating the script, so it makes it a bit difficult to score when some of the lines, and sometimes complete scenes, may or may not be there...oh well, that's what makes it exciting, right?

I will be sure to update this post as soon as I can. Until then, happy writing!
